Poetry is…

Summer 09 055 (1)

water trickling sideways

or flowing uphill. snow

which deadens the sound of

betrayal like a gun spitting

bullets from its silencer.

the wagging tail before a bite.

a smile through years

or lovers hungry for more

words, penned with a crowded heart.

a verse torn from the heart

for mindful readers.
